Polyester filament has significantly better resistance to UV-induced yellowing than natural fibres like cotton or linen. Cotton and linen both contain cellulose, which oxidises gradually when exposed to sunlight and air — that's what causes the typical yellowing of older white curtains. Polyester doesn't have this reaction. Snow should remain close to its original white for many years under normal indoor use. In rooms with extremely intense, prolonged direct sun, some very gradual lightening may occur, but this is usually subtle compared to the yellowing you'd see in a natural-fibre curtain under the same conditions.

The stain-resistant treatment is what makes this practical. Spills bead up on the surface rather than being immediately absorbed, which gives you time to blot them away before they set. For everyday maintenance, a damp cloth handles most marks. For a full refresh, machine wash at 40°C on a gentle cycle — don't bleach, as this can weaken the fibres over time and may cause uneven whitening rather than the clean result you'd expect. Remove from the machine promptly and hang to dry to minimise creasing. Near-zero shrinkage means the length stays accurate after every wash.

Yes — polyester filament tolerates humidity well. In a bathroom, keep the panel clear of direct water contact (shower splash, bath overflow) and ensure adequate ventilation after hot showers to prevent moisture build-up on any surface in the room. The fabric dries quickly if it does get damp. Snow is particularly popular in bathrooms because the white reads clean and fresh, it maximises the light in what are often smaller or higher-windowed rooms, and the light-filtering weight provides privacy without requiring a frosted or net curtain style.

A standard white voile sits around 80-110 GSM — very light, highly transparent, and quite delicate. Snow Matte at 243 GSM is more than twice as heavy, with a notably different function. A voile lets most light pass through with minimal filtering. Snow Matte absorbs a significant portion of incoming light and redistributes it as diffused glow — meaning better glare control, better daytime privacy, and a more substantial drape. The matte surface also behaves differently to the slight sheen that many voiles have. If you need real glare filtering rather than a barely-there window covering, the Matte is the better choice.

Snow works in almost any room, but it's particularly effective in spaces where you're maximising light: south or east-facing rooms that don't get much direct sun, rooms with smaller windows where light is precious, home offices where you want brightness without screen glare, and bathrooms or laundries where a clean, fresh look matters. It also layers very well in bedrooms — use Snow Matte during the day for a light, airy feel, and add a blockout curtain behind for sleep. The white doesn't absorb the blockout colour, so you don't get a coloured cast through the front panel.

Yes — the fabric itself handles large spans well. The 243 GSM weight means the panels have enough body to hang cleanly on wider windows without the sagging or billowing that lighter voiles can show. For windows wider than around 200 cm, you'll typically use two or more panels that meet in the middle. Specify your panel widths when ordering and we'll cut to those dimensions. For full-height ceiling-to-floor panels, the near-zero shrinkage is particularly valuable — what you measure is what you get, even on a 290 cm drop.

ZIPCushions supplies the custom-made curtain panels ready to hang. Installation is not included — you'll need your own track, rod, or bracket system. The panels come with your chosen heading already applied (grommet, tab top, rod pocket, or sleeve top), so installation is straightforward: fit your hardware, then hang the panels. Most hardware is available from major home improvement retailers. For most standard windows, two panels (one each side) is the typical approach — they stack to the sides when open and meet in the middle when closed. For a single panel used as a fixed decorative layer, one panel is fine. Panel width depends on how much gather you want: a 1.5x to 2x gather ratio relative to your window width is standard. For example, a 150 cm-wide window with a 2x gather would need 300 cm total fabric width — that's typically two 150 cm panels. Tell us your total fabric width when ordering and we'll advise on how to split it into panels if needed.

Machine wash at 40°C on a gentle cycle. Do not bleach — this applies even for a white fabric, as bleach can damage the polyester fibres and cause uneven whitening. Low tumble dry is acceptable — remove while still slightly damp to make hanging easier and reduce ironing. Medium iron if required. Dry clean is also an option if preferred. Spot clean with a damp cloth handles most everyday marks between full washes.
