• Length - Place your tape measure at one end and stretch to the opposite end along the longest side. Measure the actual cushion area, not including any decorative trim or overhanging edges.
• Width - Measure perpendicular to the length, from one side edge to the other. If your ottoman has rounded corners, measure to where a straight edge would naturally sit.
• Thickness - Decide how plump you want your cushion. Consider your ottoman's purpose: 2-3 inches for firm seating, 4-6 inches for comfortable lounging. Account for any existing padding that will compress underneath.
• Edge check - Verify your ottoman top is truly rectangular by measuring diagonally from corner to corner. Both diagonal measurements should be equal.
