Same color name, very different fabrics. Dove Classic Sheer is 14% cotton + 25% viscose + 61% polyester at 148 GSM - lighter, more transparent, with a natural feel from the cotton and viscose content. Dove Softlight is 100% polyester at 189 GSM - heavier, less transparent, with meaningful glare reduction and stronger daytime privacy. Pick Classic if you want a true sheer with a soft natural feel and maximum brightness. Pick Softlight if you want real privacy and genuine glare control while still keeping the room bright.

Dove is intentionally between warm and cool - it doesn't lean strongly either way. Under cool daylight or in a room with cool walls, it picks up enough warmth to soften the palette. Under warm interior lighting in the evening, it cools the warm tones slightly without going stark. In a room with mixed warm and cool elements (timber + gray, cream + slate), Dove is often the perfect bridge color because it doesn't commit. If you specifically want a cooler-side neutral, Metal or Platinum will read clearly cooler. If you want a clear warm white, Daisy or Chiffon will be warmer.

Most of it, but transformed. The fabric doesn't darken the room significantly - you keep maybe 60-70% of the daylight that would come through a bare window. What changes is the quality. The 189 GSM weight diffuses incoming light into an even glow rather than direct beams. Harsh contrast and glare on indoor surfaces is significantly reduced. Sun stripes on the floor disappear. Monitors are easier to read. The room is still bright, just calmer and more comfortable - which is the whole point of a light-filtering fabric.

Yes - it's one of the better choices. Home offices typically have monitors that suffer from window glare, and Softlight diffuses that glare effectively. Dove as a color is neutral and non-distracting on video calls - it reads as a calm professional backdrop rather than competing for attention. The 189 GSM weight provides daytime privacy from anyone passing the window outside, which matters in ground-floor offices. The 40°C machine wash handles the occasional coffee or tea splash without specialist care.

Machine wash at 40°C on a gentle cycle when needed. Use non-chlorine bleach only if absolutely required. Low tumble dry, or hang while damp and let gravity smooth out creases. Low iron on polyester setting if needed. For everyday maintenance, spot clean - the Stain Resistant treatment helps most marks blot off rather than setting in. Near-zero shrinkage means the custom drop stays the right length through many wash cycles.

Dove's temperature-neutral character means it pairs with almost any blockout color, which is one of its practical strengths. For a contemporary monochrome scheme, charcoal or deep slate. For traditional or transitional rooms, deep navy or rich taupe. For warmer schemes, deep umber or burnt sienna. For minimal Scandi-style interiors, soft white or pale gray blockouts. The Dove front layer softens the line of the blockout behind it - the two layers blend visually rather than creating a hard color separation.

Less than darker colors or pure whites. Dove's mid-tone position means it doesn't show light marks (dust, water spots) the way a deep navy would, and it doesn't show dark marks (dirt, ink) the way a pure white would. The Stain Resistant treatment is the bigger factor - most everyday touches don't leave a mark at all because the treatment keeps oils from absorbing into the fibers. Periodic vacuum with the upholstery attachment handles dust; a 40°C wash handles anything more substantial.

It shifts subtly but never dramatically. In bright daylight it reads as a clean soft gray. In overcast or low-light conditions it deepens slightly toward a warmer warm-gray. Under warm interior lighting (evening lamps, soft yellow LEDs) it picks up just enough warmth to stay comfortable. Under cool interior lighting (daylight LEDs, fluorescents) it stays cool but doesn't go blue or icy. The polyester filament adds a subtle reflective quality that catches whatever ambient color is in the room without ever distorting it.

Usually, you'd use a double-track system - one track for the Softlight in front, one for the blockout behind. Most modern curtain tracks support this setup easily. You can install both on a single deep track in some cases, but the gathers can interfere with each other when both are drawn. For best results, two parallel tracks with about 5-10 cm between them is the standard approach. We don't supply the tracks - any standard track from a curtain hardware store will work. Specify rod-pocket or sleeve-top heading if you want to thread the curtain onto a pole rather than hang from a track.

The Softlight is a denser 100% polyester light-filtering fabric at 189 GSM - more privacy, more glare control, smoother surface. If you want a warm, organic feel and maximum daylight, Plain Classic in Dove. If you want meaningful privacy and softer light quality, Softlight in Dove. Both work the same way for layering with a blockout behind.
