Learn To Measure Your Cushions The Right Way!

A relaxing spot in your garden or a useful cushion by your front door, ZIPCushions can be made to your dimensions. Follow these steps to ensure a proper fit for your custom cushion.
Do not order new cushions based on measurements of your existing or old bench cushions. Over time, cushions can become worn and the fabric stretched. Using these measurements will result in cushions that may not fit your furniture. Instead, measure the bench on which you will use the new cushion.DO NOT measure the old cushion.
Measuring Tips*This will be common for every shape*
Measuring
Seat Cushions
Decide the cushion thickness you would like. Seat cushions and pads are available 2-8 inches thick (in 1-inch increments), depending on the type of cushion or pad you select.
For ordering a back cushion for your furniture: Make sure to subtract the thickness of the seat cushion from the height of your furniture's back dimension, or the back cushion will be taller than the back support when put into position. .
Trapezium Shaped Cushions
a) To ensure cushions perfectly fit the space, note down the furniture/space dimensions one by one.
b) Start off by measuring the ‘Bottom Width’ or the longer base dimensions
c) Next up, measure the ‘Top Width’ or the shorter base dimensions.
d) Now measure the furniture length from the central point of top width to the central point of bottom width.
e) Lastly, measure the furniture ‘Thickness’ by placing the tape perpendicular to the furniture seating. The length from the top surface to the bottom surface is the thickness of the furniture.
Round Stool Or Chair Cushions
Step 1: Locate the ‘Center’ of the round furniture seat. You can do this by measuring from the edge to the center in multiple directions and marking the point where these measurements intersect.
Step 2: Measure ‘Diameter’ from edge to edge, passing through the center.
Step 3: Measure the 'Thickness' of the round stool along the circumference of your circular chair seat from top to the bottom or vice-versa.
L Shaped Cushions
a) Take a measuring tape and note furniture or space dimensions one by one.
b) Measure the width of the more extended side (Bottom Width).
c) Measure the width of the shorter side (Top Width).
d) Measure the ‘Length’ of the cushion from top to bottom.
Ensure the tape is perpendicular to the top and bottom sides. d) Place the scale vertically against the furniture seat to measure the ‘Height’ and record the measurement.
e) To measure the ‘Ear’ length, measure the length of the extensions on either side of the L-shaped cushion, recording this dimension separately.
T Shaped Cushions
a) Carefully record the dimensions of the furniture or space with a measuring tape or scale.
b) Measure the width of the longer side ( Top Width).
c) Measure the width of the shorter side (Bottom Width).
d) Measure the space length from top to bottom. Keep the scale perpendicular to the top and bottom sides for accurate length measurement.
e) Place the scale vertically against the furniture seat to measure the Thickness/Height and record the measurement.
f) For the ‘Ear’ measurements, measure the length and width of the extensions on either side of the T-shaped cushion/furniture, recording both dimensions separately.
Triangle Shaped Cushions
a) Place the measuring tape along the selected ‘Side’, starting at one corner and extending to the opposite corner.
b) To ensure accuracy, You can measure the same side from multiple angles. Since it's an equilateral triangle, all sides should have the same length.
c) Next, measure the vertical length between the furniture's lowest and highest points. This is your ‘Thickness’. You can choose it as per your requirements.
Throw Pillows
Step 1: Grasp the top and bottom corners of the pillow and pull the fabric tight.
Step 2: Measure the pillow's height, from top to bottom, along the edge of the pillow.
Step 3: Grasp the left and right corners of the pillow and pull the fabric tight.
Step 4: Measure the pillow's width, from left to right, along the edge of the pillow.
Step 5: Place the tape measure at the top of the pillow and measure straight down to the bottom. This measurement represents the ‘Thickness’.
90 Degrees Triangle
a) Measure the two shorter sides adjacent to the 90-degree angle. These are the ‘Length’ and the ‘Width’ of the furniture space.
b) Place the measuring tape or ruler vertically on the furniture space. Now, measure the distance between the top and bottom points. Consider this measurement as ‘thickness’.
Chair Cushions
Step 1: Measure the longest dimension of the furniture seat. This is your seat ‘Length’.
Step 2: Measure the distance between the arms or the widest part of the seat. This is your furniture ‘Width’.
Step 3: Measure the ‘Thickness’ or Depth of the chair's seat from the front edge to the backrest.
Note: If the chair has a backrest, subtract the height of the seat cushion to avoid getting the cushions that are taller than the support when put into position.
Hinged Cushions
Step 1: Measure the ‘Length’ of the chair seat from the front edge to the edge adjoining the backrest.
Step 2: Measure the ‘Width’ of the chair seat from side to side or the distance between armrests.
Step 3: To measure the ‘Thickness’, place your measuring tool at the back of the seating area and measure it to the front edge.
For Back Cushion
Step 1: Measure the width of the chair's back support from side to side.
Step 2: Measure the ‘Length of the chair’s back support from bottom to the top in a straight line.
Step 3: Measure the ‘Thickness’ from the back of the seating area and to the front edge.
Note: Make sure to subtract the thickness of the seat cushion from the height of your bench's back dimension, or the back cushion will be taller than the chair's back.
Seat Cushions
Step 1: Measure the longest dimension of the seat cushion. This is your furniture 'Length'.
Step 2: Measure the distance between the arms or the widest part of the seat. This is your furniture 'Width'.
Step 3: To measure the 'Thickness', measure the distance between your furniture seat's highest and lowest points.
Note: If you are ordering a back cushion, subtract the thickness of the seat cushion from the height of your furniture's rear dimension, or the back cushion will be taller than the back support when put into position.
